Treat Your Feet

Sandal and flip flop weather is here and it’s not going away anytime soon. But my feet aren’t looking so pretty! So much dry skin, so little time for pedicures. To help my feet to be their prettiest, I need to exfoliate. Of course, moisturizing is very important and using heavy duty lotions or petroleum jelly and covering your feet with socks overnight will really help. First though, some exfoliation will help get rid of the dry skin and bring forth the smooth glowing skin ready to show off in some cute new sandals (you should soak your feet before exfoliating).

I was going to recommend different types of foot scrubs to purchase, but in researching it I discovered just how easy it is to make your own foot scrub! You can have your own spa experience at home. Now if you give me a recipe for making a homemade scrub and you say “3 drops of this essential oil” and “2 drops of that one”, my eyes will glaze over knowing that I don’t own them and don’t know where to buy them and I will promptly run out and buy the already made scrub. I need EASY!spa

What I discovered is that a foot scrub for exfoliation can be as simple as 1 cup of sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons of your favorite lotion. That is definitely easy. Or how about 3/4 cup brown sugar with 1/4 cup olive oil and a little Vitamin E thrown in if you happen to have some of those capsules laying around that you could empty? You could mash up several strawberries, mix in a couple tablespoons olive oil and a teaspoon of some coarse salt. It really is that easy. And you could use beach sand mixed with some of your suntan oil to scrub your feet, then rinse off in the water. Not only is that one easy, but also a good excuse to go to the beach! * Honey, I really have to get to the beach today – I simply must exfoliate my feet.* 🙂

I did find this Chocolate Covered Strawberries Foot Exfoliant recipe that I have to try! Do you have any great homemade foot scrub recipes? If you search the internet, you can find hundreds of recipes, but it takes some looking to find the really easy ones.

If this still sounds like too much work, you can always go check out all the foot scrubs available for purchase on Etsy. You still get the handmade scrub, but somebody else did all the work for you!

Go ahead – treat your feet!

Lisa 🙂
