Have you ever had a beauty experience (treatment, product, advice, etc) that completely changed the way you feel about yourself? I have – the blow out. I was in my late 20’s when a friend of a friend, who was a stylist asked me if I had ever had my incredibly thick, naturally curly hair blow dried straight. I was stunned. You could blow dry curls straight? I had tried in vain for years to tame my curls and most attempts left me looking like I had a fuzzy triangle on my head. I stuttered some sort of reply of disbelief before he pushed me into a chair and pulled out the hairdryer. The results stunned me – smooth, glossy, glamorous, STRAIGHT locks attached to MY head. I felt something like a million-bazillion dollars. From then on the blowout was a solid part of my beauty routine.
Now I have to be honest I generally don’t blowout my own hair. Its far too thick and I don’t have enough arms to separate the hair as well as holding the brush and hairdryer (plus it takes me on average 90 – 120 minutes to do it and a stylist can do it in less than an hour). I’m very lucky in that due to its thickness my hair looks better as it gets dirty so a single blowdry can last me from 5 – 7 days as long as it doesn’t get wet. There was a time where I was getting my hair blown out every 7 – 10 days but lately I’ve been holding back doing around once a month or more often if special occasions or events abound.
I want to show you what a difference a good blow out can make so I’m taking the risk of embarrassing myself with some photos* that will best illustrate the power of the blowdry:
This is what I tend to look like when I get up in the morning:

There is nothing like being beautified by a professional and if you have an important event coming up I highly recommend getting a blowout – I’m convinced mine have contributed to everything from successful job interviews to landing my husband!

YOUR HAIR IS INCREDIBLE! I WANT IT!!! (even in the before shot!)
do you write for lucky magazine? this sounds exactly like something i read there a month or two ago, but i’m too tired at the moment to hunt it up and see if it’s you! love the blowout!
I agree with Clare. I love your hair both ways. It’s gorgeous.
Your hair is gorgeous and reminds me so much of Debra Messing’s! One day you should try blowing it out like she did here: http://www.dailymakeover.com/blogs/in-his-beauty-universe/2009/04/debra-messings-swept-back-blowout.html . It’s such a sleek, high fashion look!
