Another Nail Polish Trend

I’m really beginning to wonder about the term nail polish trends. Because it seems like pretty much anything goes in this department. Bright colors are in. Metallics are in. Reds are in. Dark vampy colors are in.

It’s all in! Or so it seems.

Basically ladies, if a superstar wears it on the red carpet – it’s a trend. So, the latest in nail colors are said to be nude, flesh-toned colors. Really, did this ever go out? 300

This newest trend in nails is actually my husband’s favorite. He loves the more natural looks in hair and make-up. I have to admit it’s one of mine also and maybe for some of the same reason. It just looks sexy! Can I say that here?

Anyway, Glamour Magazine says that the look elongates your hands and legs. Models have known to use this trick forever. Especially if you wear it with flesh colored open toed shoes. Ooo la la. So, the next time you are getting ready for date night be sure to get your pedicure done with a nude color, slip into your favorite summer dress and sandals and call it done!

I fully plan to do this for an upcoming wedding because I need all the elongating I can get!

However, I do have some other favorite reasons for using nude nail polish:

  • It looks fabulous with a tan. Think Jennifer Aniston – she always wears nude colored nail polish and wears it well! Like here – look how long her legs look! Hyatt Regency Century Plaza
  • It doesn’t show chips and your mani/pedi will last longer
  • It’s a look that most anyone can pull off
  • It looks sophisticated and classy!

Some favorites by OPI – Makes Men Blush, Kiss on the Chic.

Revlon has Sheer Nude and Creme Brulee.

By the way, both of those sites have fun little interactive hands that you can “try” different colored nail polishes on. You pick a skin tone that is similar to your own, pick your length of nails and go to town trying on the different colors.

You could also combine two trends going on right now. Metallics and Nudes – a flesh colored gold color like OPI Curry Up Don’t be Late would be a little more edgy.

Basically, my advice with nail color is to have fun with it! Wear what you are comfortable with. Who knows, it might just end up on the red carpet next!

  1. I’m all about nude nails. And if it makes my legs look like Jennifer Aniston, then I’m on board with that as well. And really is there any better nail polish than Opi? I think not. Don’t waste your money on anything else.

  2. This is a trend I can handle!! 🙂

  3. Thank you for this. I never would have even thought about nude color nail polish if I hadn’t seen this post. I played around with the OPI website and saw what some of them look like, and then I went out and bought some and I love it! The store I went to didn’t have OPI, but they did have Orly so I got one of those. Great!
