Easy Accessory Storage

One of the easiest ways to update your wardrobe for fall without breaking the bank is to invest in accessories.

Me? I tend to be a jewelry girl. There are so many places where you can get hip, trendy jewelry at rock-bottom prices. For the cost of a single pair of jeans, I can buy several necklaces and a killer pair of earrings that transform even a basic tank top into something special.

Problem is — I’ve acquired so much jewelry that I often forget what I have or — even worse — what I do have ends up in a wadded, tangled mess. I’ve tried jewelry boxes, jewelry trays, over-the-door organizers, peg boards. I really don’t like the visual clutter of storing my jewelry in plain view. So, that’s why when I stumbled upon this little trick, I was instantly sold.

I emptied a small dresser drawer and fit in three ice cube trays. See? Everything now has its own place. Some of my longer necklaces actually span two cubes. Chunkier necklaces and bracelets obviously won’t work with this set-up, but it’s ideal for smaller-scale items. I never lose earrings anymore, and even my most delicate pendants are kept safe and tangle-free.

The trays are even stackable (for those of you with sizable collections). But the best part is that I can see what I have, and then accessorize accordingly.

It’s organizational perfection.

  1. I absolutely love this idea!! I just posted about accessories today and I definitely need to work this idea into my wardrobe.

    Thanks for the fab suggestion!

  2. Love It! I do something similar. I use plastic boxes, found in the craft department, usually used to store stitching floss or beads. They have lids attached so I can securely close them and stack them. For earrings, I use stitching perforated paper(looks like cross stitch fabric, but is stiff plastic) mounted in a frame. The holes in it are perfect to stick earrings thru, and I can hang it on the wall.

  3. Great idea!!!
I got a little lost in the Forever 21 site – very cool stuff over there and cheap! love it.

  4. Love the ice cube trays! I sprung for an expensive drawer divider or two at Target. This is a lot more economical. Love it!
