Skin Renaissance: Two Lightening Products that Work

Nude_her_by_milenkaIt’s hard to believe that today is my forty-third birthday. Though I’m at peace with my biological age, I am not fond of some skin issues that have come with the post – forty years. Over the past year I have noticed patches of darkening on my face, primarily over my upper lip. It was when my husband said something that I decided it was time to obliterate my hairless mustache – as I’ve since named it. With this decision, I had no idea how difficult it would be to find something that worked and wasn’t filled with the toxins that I try to avoid. Read on to find out what products with which I’m getting great results. First, let me share my quest.

Some Disappointments

The first product I tried was Kiss My Face Brightening Day Creme. Initially I was attracted to the fact that it was an all-natural product that would be more healthful for my skin and body. But, to my disappointment after a month of solid daily use, there was no change in the overall appearance of my skin or the darkened areas. Strike one.

Someone suggested that I try exfoliating the area more often to reduce the problem. I tried this with some exfoliant that I already had but had no good results. Strike two.

The Day of Changelumecin

While at Kohl’s one day, I decided to ask the sales clerk if they had any product samples that I could take, especially any that would help dark spots. Immediately the woman offered some good sized samples of two products that she actually raved about saying, “They really do work!” I was psyched! Finally, I was going to be mustache free!

The first sample was Good Skin’s, Lumecin. Though it’s not claimed to be all-natural, I was willing to try it for the promise of good results (sometimes you have to make exceptions). You use Lumecin at night before bed so the active ingredients can work overnight. Here’s a brief list of ingredients that I could find in the product descriptions online:

» Protectami, which optimizes cell turnover

» Glucosamine, which gently exfoliates, brightens, and evens-out skin tone

» Urea, which unclogs pores (essentially making pores appear smaller because they are clean!)

» Hydrolized Protein, which strengthens the skins natural defense barrier

» Lumefade Complex, which helps to fade dark spots and discolorations

Guess what? I could see change the next day! I can hear Oh Happy Day playing in the background again.

Before I share my three week results, allow me to introduce you to the other product that the Kohl’s gal offered to me. She explained to me the benefits of products that contain antioxidant properties like vitamin C. I received the little orange tube that she claimed would boost theC_left affect of the Lumecin if I used it as my daily moisturizer. Grassroots Vitamin C Power Brightening Creme SPF 25 (with vitamins E and B5) was a no brainer as I had used, and loved, the Grassroots line before. Plus it smells yummy…like fresh squeezed orange juice.

As the days and weeks passed, I noticed a definite improvement in the overall clarity and texture of my forty-three-year-old face. The dark spots are fading nicely (the hubby hasn’t called me mustache girl for awhile). Success at last! I am continuing my use of both products to see just how much change they will promote. If you have a problem with skin discoloration, age spots, or darkening, I definitely recommend that you try these affordable products. Lumecin can be purchased at Kohl’s stores or from their website for around $40, and the Grassroots product is available online at Kohls.com for $32.50.

BTW, I’m using less and less cover up above my lip – the true sign of results. Cheers!

  1. Happy Birthday!!!

  2. I wanted to share with you what my husband said about the “hairless mustache”. Without me even mentioning it he commented on how it was going away. He didn’t know that I’d been using the Lumecin and Grassroots products. It’s one thing when you can see changes, but when others notice, that’s a good day!

    BTW I love your blog!

  4. Thanks for the recommendation – I’ve been looking around for skin lightening products and so glad to hear you found something that works and is reasonably priced. Nice to know that Kohls gives samples too.

    PS: Happy Birthday!

  5. I have yet to try it but supposedly you can make a paste of lemon juice and baking soda to lighten skin as well.

  6. Wow, that’s pretty remarkable!

  7. OMG! I have a hairless mustache, too! A friend of mine actually asked me how I kept the hair off my upper lip because she never saw it! There is no hair just darker skin. I’ll definitely be trying these products. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I’m going to try the lemon/baking soda thing too! I am really much more comfortable with all natural products and remedies.

  9. I have this problem myself…especially in the summer when my face gets more sun, the lovely hairless mustache comes out. I hate it! I might try the lemon juice first or go to Kohl’s and ask for some samples.

    Thanks!

  10. I also share the same problems as you. I had dark patches right above my lip. I discovered Skin Print and they were able to help me by giving me a skin regiment that worked for my skin. My dark spots are no longer visible and I have actually reduced the amount of underlying damage that wasn’t visible to the eye.

  11. Oh – I sooooo need this. Thanks for an honest review!

  12. Skin lightening-bleaching cream-skin whitening-fade cream. Don’t bleach your skin until you read this.

  13. I too suffer from upper lip dark spots that I assume are caused by the sun. I have tried different things, but am not excited to try some natural remedies such as lemon juice and baking soda. Has anyone had any luck with this yet ? I also have a brown birthmark on the side of my nose that I would love to fade. Any advice ?

  14. Sorry, I meant I am excited to try it — did not mean to write “not”

  16. These are truly fantastic ideas in concerning blogging.
You have touched some nice factors here. Any way keep up wrinting.
