There are two things every girl should have when walking out the door: great lashes, and shiny lips.
I was not blessed with long, dark lashes, so believe me – a good mascara is truly my best friend. I’ve tried more than I can count through the years, both expensive and cheap. I had a phase where I loved Lancome’s Definicils. There was the year that I used Maybelline’s Great Lash in the famous pink and green tube. Clinique’s mascaras have never impressed me, and Mary Kay’s didn’t stand out, either. I even bought the Lash Blast that everyone seems to love. Unfortunately, I did not love it at all. I found it to be too slick, and it didn’t lengthen my lashes nearly enough. I tossed it after using it just a handful of times. I never did try Chanel’s mascara, although I’ve heard great things.
My favorite, until a few weeks ago, has been L’Oreal’s Voluminous mascara with the curved brush. I’ve liked it better than any department store brand I’ve tried. But a month ago, another L’Oreal mascara caught my eye while I was browsing the makeup aisles at Target. I bought it, tried it, and my lashes have been thanking me ever since.
Meet L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Plumping Mascara – my new BFF.
This is the best mascara I’ve ever used. And I LOVE that it’s inexpensive, and can be bought at practically any drugstore, grocery store or supercenter.
This mascara is on the dryer side, which I like. It doesn’t leave any clumps, and it never flakes. It keeps my lashes separate. And in just one to two coats, my lashes look like they’ve grown an inch. Seriously, I look like I have NO lashes at all when I don’t have mascara on. A little goes a long way, too. One pump in the tube, and I can do a whole eye, top and bottom, without getting more. This stuff works wonders!
There are a lot of great products out there, and it’s hard somtimes to buy all the ones you want to test out. But this is one that I think just about anyone will love – totally worth the few dollars you’ll spend for it. I’m hooked. Go and give it a try – let me know what you think!

The Extra Volume Collagen wasn’t my favorite when I tried it (I’m a HUGE fan of L’Oreal mascaras) and I think you hit the nail on the head– it’s more dry. I just couldn’t put my finger on it! I got a really good application from time to time, but it wasn’t great every time. I still love some L’Oreal mascara & may even end up giving the Extra Volume Collagen another shot!
I always love L’Oreal so I will have to give this a shot next time I need mascara!

Oh – by the way – NEVER pump the tube – you are inserting air, and that’s why it dries out on you. And you should replace your mascara at least every 2-3 months, for safety reasons (health of your eyes) ….
