I’ve always been a teaser. I remember discovering it when I was in high school and I’ve never looked back.
We’re talking hair here people 😉
While strolling the aisles of Sally’s Beauty Supply a few weeks ago, I spotted a tool that has forever changed my hair’s life and I’m busting at the seams with excitement to tell you about it.
It’s called a backcomber. I knew there were combs like this out there, but what I didn’t realize was how much more effective they were than an ordinary brush when it came to teasing. These babies are a secret weapon against ugly flat hair.

Before I found this gem, I would use a small round brush to tease the heck out of my hair, then apply hairspray to the teased part and attempt to smooth out with my round brush to get the look I wanted. And the end result wasn’t always successful. More often than not I would have to “rinse and repeat” at least twice to get the look I was after.
With this comb its such a breeze!
I take small sections around my crown and comb down towards the scalp in a teasing motion a few times. Then I lightly run my brush over the top to smooth it out and spray to set. It’s almost the same exact process but the comb just does a much better job because I have yet to “rinse and repeat” since using this comb. It’s what I like to call a more “controlled” tease.
The best part is, they’re super cheap. You can pick one of these up for yourself at Sally’s for under $2.00.

My first thought after watching the video was, “yeah, but how much does it cost??” $2??????? What an awesome find!
I love your accent, by the way :). My aunt and uncle lived in the South for three years and they’ve already picked up the accent :).
I love it! I do the same thing, although I don’t have one those nifty little combs. I think I’m going to need to pick one of those up!
You are so stinkin’ adorable! Looks like the comb is a great find! I’ll have to check it out. 🙂
Wow! I love Sally’s. I will have to get one of those. I have to be careful about teasing I have super thick crazy hair but I think it would help give me that root lift I need in the top! Thanks for sharing!
Your so cute Trina! I’m going to get one ASAP. I’ve just been using a rat tail comb for years, and it just takes so long!
Could you be any cuter?! I’m so glad we hung out that one time. Need to do it again before Dolly moves and I don’t get to Bham anymore…
Your accent is super cute. I will have to go and get this. I have a similar haircut to yours but mine is longer in the front. It is also very flat and I have tried everything to give it some volume. Hopefully this comb will help!
So bummed………my Sally’s didn’t have these. Wonder where I can get one? It looks awesome!
Finally found the comb! It’s awesome! Thanks so much for the recommendation! Sure beats a rat tail comb. 🙂
