I was in London last month and the biggest difference I noticed between here and there was STYLE (and I mean personal style as opposed to just being fashionable) but the biggest “take my breath away” difference was the men. Oh boy! My Best friend kept teasing me because as we walked through central London I couldn’t help but stare! Those guys know how to dress! Now gorgeous Paul Smith and Saville Row suits aside, the men looked SO pulled together I thought I’d put together a few summer looks to bring our men up to the standard thrown down by the gentlemen from London. (This is my first time using Polyvore so please bear with me!)
Ok first up is a casual spring look: dark wash jeans, cardigan, graphic tee (robots are huge right now!), leather cuff and the all important converse. If your guy is in his 20’s and has the shape for it you could go with skinny jeans for a very hip look.
Next up is a great casual on-the-town look (think BBQs & brewpubs!) Neutral cargo shorts (ideally in a linen blend for a nice weight & hang), colourful shirt over a white v-neck tee (I couldn’t get the white to show up in Polyvore!), leather sandals and a straw hat. Now before we get to the pretty picture I need to point out one of my biggest pet peeves with North American men in the summer: running shoes and socks with shorts. This is a BAD look (unless you are really going for a run) sandals, flip flops, birkenstocks (preferably in a nice brown leather) are the way to go. Much sexier, you legs don’t suddenly get cut off at the ankle (this is something us women know but, shame on us, we seem to turn a blind eye when our men go with this look!) but it does mean you need to make sure your toenails are clean (and cut!)
Finally the other major trend I noticed was the ubiquitous polo shirt! Loads of colors, styles, layered with tees, with other polos and worn with jeans, shorts and even chinos (no pleats please!) Check out the selection below for inspiration!
Now lets get out there styling our men and give those European boys a run for their money!

Why do European guys have all the style?! I don’t mind, but my hubs prefers jeans, tennis shoes and tattoo style graphic tees. That’s just his style. I think he wears it well. Now for Sundays he goes with a button up or polo with dress pants and dress shoes.
