I could go all winter and never don a skirt or a dress. I hate tights and pantyhose, and I find it much more comfortable to stick to pants, preferably with a pair of awesome boots. But when the weather gets warm, I pull my skirts out of hiding. I love the idea of the casual skirt. It’s such a great alternative to shorts, which, let’s face it, are not exactly the most flattering article of clothing to grace the market. Right now oldnavy.com has all kinds of adorable casual skirts for spring.
Take for instance the Roll Over Jersey Skirt. This is perfect to throw on with a tank top and flip flops (and perhaps a jean jacket on cooler mornings) and go anywhere — the grocery store, the kids’ school, out to lunch, the pool, you name it.
Or how about this flirty Eyelet Whirly Skirt? Once again, tank top, flip flops, jean jacket… you’re set. Or of course a cute cardigan would dress it up for a lunch with the girls or even a Sunday morning at church.
If you like a more tailored skirt (I do; they just look better on me, for some reason) you can’t go wrong with a khaki pencil skirt like this one.
I’m also a huge fan of the cargo skirt, but this one is on the shorter side. If you’ve got great legs, go for it. If you are more modest, look around. I have several of these from Target that are closer to knee length. I wear them all the time in the summer.
What’s your favorite style of casual skirt for the summer months? Do tell.

That roll over jersey skirt is my favorite skirt ever. I have it in at least 4 colors from different stores and I swear – you can wear it anywhere and it’s SO comfy! Love it!
Could not agree more! I have a knit cargo skirt from Target last year, and I wore it ALL the time. I can’t wait to pull it back out this year! I also picked up one of the ON whirly skirts a few weeks ago when they were the item of the week – CUUUUTE, and I’m looking forward to busting it out.
(I also love simple A-line dresses for summer!)
I love the flowy skirts, but I have big hips, and that style doesn’t look good on bigger girls. I do love a good cargo skirt or denim skirt with a cute tank in the summer!
