A few weeks ago, I got an email from BzzAgent asking if I wanted to try out the new CoverGirl Shadow Blast.
Free makeup?
Yes, please.
So what is Shadow Blast? Basically, it’s a two-shaded eyeshadow stick that is designed to create an easy smoky eye.
I received the product in Silver Sky, which is a very light gray duo.
Step 1: Apply the ‘Step 1’ side of the product all over the lid. Easy.
Step 2: Apply the darker shade to your crease.
Smudge with your fingers to make sure it’s blended.
Elapsed time: less than a minute.

Unfortunately, my camera is not cooperating to get better pics than that… but in the hour I’ve been wearing it I’ve had 2 compliments on my eyeshadow technique.
I didn’t have the heart to tell them I basically colored my eyelids with a giant crayon.
The Silver Sky shade I used doesn’t have a dramatic smoky eye effect, which makes it perfect for every day wear. I think some of the other shades would have a lot more contrast and have a more dramatic effect.
The one negative I could see is that if you really pile on this product (and the shade I received is light so this would be easy to do), it will probably crease. But a bit of concealer and powder on the eyelids as primer would probably improve the lasting results.
Overall, for a CoverGirl product, I am very impressed. Cheap, foolproof eyes. I’d call that a home run.
Disclosure: I received a free product to try, but no other compensation.

These didn’t get great reviews online, but I had a coupon to get one free so I thought I’d try it anyway. I really like it! Mine is silver with a mauve(ish) darker color.
I need to check this out in the darker shades. It sounds intriguing.
hmm, I’ll have to try and see if it could be a cheap replacement for my pricey Clinique Quick Eyes!
I need to try this. I love trying out different eyeshadows. I usually use Cover Girl too!
I also got this from bzzagent. Mine is a darker silver as step one and then a deep purple for step 2. At first putting it on I wasn’t too sure about it. But once I got the second color on and blended, I did like it. But, it creased on me. I use an eye primer all the time and my shadows never crease (they used to all the time until I started using the primer), anyway, I used a primer and within 2 hours I had a crease, so I was disappointed in that. But if you don’t crease, you might really like it.
