You Raise Me Up

Summer is just about here, and that means tank tops and halters, tissue tees and all kinds of other cute tops.

We talked a few weeks ago about how to dress a larger bust. Looking good on top is all about making the right choices, and there is another important one that you need to make, asap.

RUN, don’t walk, to the mall and get yourself measured for a well fitting bra. Ladies, I know it can be frustrating and time consuming to dress your “girls” correctly. But finding a good bra isn’t something you can be lazy about. I’m all about friendship, but really. Your boobs do NOT need to be making friends with your belly button. Raise ’em up!!!

Always try your shirt on over any bra you’re trying on, to see the finished look. Minimizers may become your new best friend. Just make sure it doesn’t smash you together so much that you’ve created an unsightly uniboob for yourself.

Here’s the most important bra tip, for all bust sizes. Turn to the side, and put your arm at a 90 degree angle. The bra should raise your breasts up enough so that the middle of the breast falls NO LOWER that halfway between your shoulder and your elbow. If they are hanging a little lower, pick a new bra and raise ’em up. You’ll take off 10 pounds, and make your cute summer shirts look their best.

Do you have a favorite brand of bra that raises you to new heights?

  1. I live and die by Calvin Klein bras… they’re just SO well-made compared to the more-expensive VS bras I was sporting for years. Plus they come in a wide range of sizes which finally helped put my girls where they belong! Amen!

I am not necessarily loyal to one brand of bra, but I just wanted to add another tip for all the ladies. If your bra is creeping up in the back, it is too big. It rides up because you are relying too much on your straps to hold the girls up which causes other uncomfortable issues. Most department stores have certified bra fitters and I am with Kristin about the importance of being fitted for a bra. I used to be a certified bra fitter and it always amazed me the difference a well fitted bra could make. Now go get fitted! You’ll be so glad you did!

  3. LOL! LOL! Excellent post. I DO have a bra that does that, which is no small feat, Let. Me. Tell. YOU. It’s this one, and it’s SO worth the price. http://is.gd/chVMr

  4. I love this! I hate seeing saggy boobs all over. I have a 36DDD and I love the Cacique bras from Lane Bryant. They are the best bras that I have ever had. They really do make me look so much thinner. And I am not plus sized either. I had a hard time walking into a Lane Bryant for the first time, I don’t know, maybe the stigma of being a larger woman… But even though I am too small for their clothes, I can definitely wear their bras! I love them and I suggest that anyone with a larger chest check them out. I believe that they start with Cs and go up from there. They are also very helpful to measure you and give you tons of different styles to choose from, so that you can find the right fit!

  5. Since VS discontinued my one perfect bra, I’ve been so lost. Add back pain to that, and I’ve been braless (well not literally- can you imagine?) for 2 years! I wish Lane Bryant carried 34’s. I’d be all over that! Will def try Wacoal.
