Fall Nail Polish Colors

Despite the fact that the high outside is over 90 degrees today, I’m officially declaring today the day that I’m done with summer. Been there, done that, wore that sundress.

At work yesterday, a co-worker informed me that my pedicure (Sally Hansen’s Resilient Red) was so fall.

I, on the other hand, am not completely convinced that red is the new black. If you know what I mean.

I think that taupey-grays will still be hot this fall, like the Sally Hansen Commander in Chic I loved last year.

I think purples will still see a lot of action this fall, although I for one have had enough Lincoln Park After Dark for my lifetime… but I predict it will be back this fall.

I for one always look forward to deep-reds as we head into winter. To me, they are elegant and classic. My favorite is OPI Edin Burgundy ( which I tried desperately to photograph but it just kept looking bright red. Which it is not.).

So what are your favorite nail polish shades for fall?

And seriously, who’s ready to pack away the skin and cozy up into a sweater already??

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE OPI’s “you don’t know jaques” its in the grey family. Also Essie’s “Mink Muffs”. PS: invest in essie’s “fastest drying top coat” it really does dry in like 30 seconds and my manicures last 1.5-2 weeks with NO touchups! Great for the gal who loves her nails painted but hates to paint them (me!!)

  2. see, i’m one of those girls who only has red toes in the fall/winter. okay, more like the winter. i like richer, deeper colors for fall. red toes in the spring/summer just isn’t right to me.

i love that red. my favorite red is opi’s “big apple red.” i also adore opi’s “i’m not really a waitress” for a more sassy red.

i got into the green & gray kick from last year & have a ton of nail polish from zoya. i love the matte finish of the polish. so fun.

  3. The red fingernail paint looks awesome on your hands!

  4. I went to Ulta yesterday on the hunt for a new fall shade. I couldn’t find anything that I loved. I ended up buying a deep burgandy color, but I think I regret it. haha.

  5. Supposedly the hottest thing for fall are space age metallics – silver, purple, and aqua with a sheen. Not my style. I’m waiting to see what OPI introduces…

  6. I just bought six new colors this weekend to take me into fall (buy 2 get 1 free Essie). I bought “Fishnet Stockings,” according to A Cup of Jo, “the best red ever,” and “Mesmerize,” a royal blue to see me through the 100 degree weather, though the calendar ticks toward fall. I also got “Light Linen” for a nice neutral for work. I can’t remember the names of the other three. One was a true gray, one was a gray/mauve color, and another was a dark pink, possibly Plumberry. I’ll have to go home and look up their names.

  7. I’m the worst person when it comes to wearing chic nail polish. Currently my toes are some shade of kelly green. I do have a really lovely from OPI that’s sort of a pinkish taupey color that is really pretty for fall.

About being done with summer-I work in a clothing store and we just got in all of our fall clothes last week. I may or may not have spent $65 on new clothes for fall. I am soooo ready to break out the boots.

  8. I am NOT ready to pack away my sundresses, thankyouverymuch. BUT. I do love fall nail colors. In fact, I often wear taupes and browns and deep plums in the summer.
