Works for Me Wednesday: A Quick Tip for Boot Organization

I have a friend who is a photographer. She has an extensive collection of clothing and shoes that she uses for various shoots and, like anyone who has a lot of items to organize, she’s got a few tricks up her sleeve.

So this tip comes directly from her. It’s guaranteed to help make some sense out of that mess of boots in your closet.

See, if you’re like me, your boot collection looks something like this:

As you can see, the milk crate wasn’t really cutting it. Organizing your boots like this makes it difficult to remember how many pairs of boots I have. I usually end up wearing the ones that are on the top of the pile. But even when I do that, I manage to find one boot and then waste 20 minutes looking for its mate. I also was starting to get worried that storing my boots in such a disorderly fashion would end up scratching the leather or damaging the overall shape of the boot.

Enter the humble wooden skirt/pant hanger:

All you do is place your boots side-by-side and gently clip at the top. Like so:

The wooden hanger I used has a little felt strip on the inside, so I didn’t have to worry about the leather getting damaged. Now I can hang my boots in the closet. They’re off the floor. I can see what I have.

So simple.

So affordable.

So organized.
