Orange and Purple Madness at NYFW Spring 2011

Amidst the sea of bland khakis and skin tones, bright orange and purple colors dotted the spring 2011 runways at New York Fashion Week.

I loved the orange dresses in Carlos Miele’s, J. Mendel’s, and Lela Rose’s collections. Gorgeous!

Also adored the different purple styles on EDITION Georges Chakra’s, Vera Wang’s, and Gucci’s runways.

Some designers – Gucci, Carolina Herrera, and Diane von Furstenberg – even daringly combined the two shades.

I love the creativity of New York Fashion Week, but there is no way that I’ll spend that much money on the orange and purple styles I’m now starting to crave. Instead I’m rifling through the Target and Old Navy collections for my spring wardrobe. And I haven’t been disappointed yet!

How cute is this Old Navy smocked jersey tube dress in purple?

Retail Price: $19.50

And don’t you think it’d go beautifully with this Target cropped cardigan in “hot orange”?

Retail Price: $16

You could pair this summer look with cute Eric Michael nude sandals to elongate your legs…

Retail Price: $49.90

… or you could dare to try the orange or purple shades instead 😉
