Valentine’s Day Gift Guide: Win Your Little Boy’s Heart

Sometimes finding a gift your child that means a lot to them can be tough. At Christmas or on birthdays you might give them a bunch of things, and chances are you’ll get something right. For Valentine’s Day we go light on the gifts and heavy on the love, so I really want to make sure whatever I give my little boys is going to be appreciated and not tossed to the bottom of the toy box to be forgotten.

This year I got extremely lucky. One thing both of my boys (ages 3 and 6) have been asking for lately are slippers, to replace some cute animal ones I got last year that are getting worn out from love and over use. Well I hit the mall last week and searched no less than eight stores, all of which were totally sold out of cute slippers. I was told they are a fall item and I should check back in July. I had given up and was about to pay $20 for some I found at Zappo’s, when I happened to stroll through the dollar zone at Target, where I struck gold.

Check out these adorable slippers in two sizes for only $2.50 each! So cheap that I bought both styles in each boys size in case a fight erupts over who gets which animal.

Ok so if your kids aren’t into slippers like mine? Here are a few other chic and inexpensive ideas for little boys. Head on over to your local Learning Express store and check out this adorable Twilight Sea Turtle! It’s a plush nightlight that projects actual constellations on your child’s ceiling while also teaching kids about the endangered animals glowing on it’s shell.

If stuffed sea turtles aren’t your thing either, check out this awesome Band In a  Box from Melissa and Doug. It’s available at Land of Nod for only $25 and believe me it’s worth every penny. My boys got this for Christmas and they have really enjoyed the instruments more than you could imagine.

  1. Sarah you are spot on with the twilight turtle! It doubles as an educational toy and a nightlight. Great suggestions! I found these cute mailboxes, heart stamps and stockers all in the dollar section at Target. I put some stickers on the outside of the mailbox, artfully wrote my son’s name, and stuck the stamps, stickers and a ring pop in the mailbox. All for under $5!
