Two Makeovers, Laura Mercier Style!

I’ve long been a fan of Laura Mercier cosmetics, so when I got an invitation to their Beauty Event at Neiman Marcus, I immediately scheduled an appointment. Then I emailed Melissa and convinced her to get a sitter and make an appointment too, because everyone knows that makeovers are more fun with a friend!

We met up last Friday in front of Neimans, and Melissa greeted me with my favorite treat — a tall mocha from Starbucks. Now that’s a good friend, right there. I brought along my fancy camera so we could document our adventure.

Here we are in all of our “before” glory!

Before

(I confess, I did have on some light mascara and foundation because I didn’t want to scare anyone when I dropped my daughter off at school. But we’re pretty much without make up here. See how much we love you?)

Soon we found ourselves seated in the makeover chairs, each with our own makeup artist, giving us the star treatment.

Jo-Lynne’s Makeover

I informed my makeup artist that I was looking for a new daytime look for spring. I’ve been using the same color palette for far too long, and I was instantly drawn to their new spring colors, so my makeup artist used them on me so I’d know what to do with them.

Later on, I purchased the Eye and Cheek Palette that you see there.

For $48, I got 4 eye shadows and 2 blushes. I’ve been using them every day, and I absolutely love them. She showed me how to use all 4 colors on my eyes and blend them to achieve a professional look in less than five minutes. I use the darkest color as eye liner, and I bought the little brush that she used to get the color right into the lash line. She also taught me how to tight-line my eyes, which we’re planning on showing you in a video some day soon, so stay tuned!!

In addition to the compact and the brush, I also purchased a new lipstick color for spring and a foundation that I absolutely LOVE. I’ve never had such good coverage.

We both qualified for the free gift with purchase.

It contained a full sized mascara with the skinniest wand I’ve ever seen; the jury is still out on how I feel about that. But I love the finishing powder and the flat fan brush that came with it and I might end up purchasing a full size set when it’s gone. I’ll be talking more about these products in future posts.

And now I give you . . . Melissa!

Melissa’s Makeover

Hi! Its my turn!  I was thrilled with the foundation as well. I’ve never had much luck with foundation, personally, but this one is amazing. Lots of coverage with just a tiny bit and it feels like I have just a light lotion on. I also got the secret concealer, which is specially formulated for the under eye area, because under eye circles are a problem area for me. (Seriously, the coverage is amazing.)

I also got a new Tightline Cake Eye Liner – which I adore and use every day – as well as the new Tightline Activator, which helps your liner last longer. And, boy, does it work. It’s made my favorite liner even better. I also picked up a brow definer, since I really need to remember to do my eyebrows. I always forget them. I loved the shadows they used on my eyes, but I’m waiting to decide… They did two different looks on me: first a day look (which I loved) then deepened it for a more dramatic look (which I also loved) so I need to figure out which one I want to get!

So here we are!

After

We’ll be sharing more about our favorite products soon. And we promise to share about this foundation! Trust me, we do not have perfect skin, but it sure looks like it! Stay tuned!

  1. You look lovely ladies!! 🙂 I can’t wait to see the how-to video on lining your eyes with shadow. I used to do that all the time but I could never get it close enough to look ‘right’ without my eyes watering 😉

  2. i usually line my eyes with shadow but it’s a pain and always looks smudgy, can’t wait for the video on it! need to fine tune my technique!

  3. I want to see close-ups!! I could just stare at you in church but that might be weird! 😉

  4. I love LM products! I am a huge fan of LM tinted moisturizer, loose translucent powder, and under eye secret concealer. My friend told me the products were worth the price because they last so long, and it’s true. A tube of tinted moisturizer lasts me 9 months! I need more powder do I will check out the spring colors when I go to Sephora. Yay!

  5. You guys look beautiful! I went to the Laura Mercier counter the day of my high school reunion and they did a terrific job.
