Yuko Kokoro G Review

I’ve been honest here before about my challenging hair. It is dry and the bad kind of curly, which means it can generally be a bit of a mess to handle.  So, it was with great excitement that I offered to try Yuko’s Kokoro G Shampoo and Kokoro G Treatment Conditioner.

Yuko is a hair product company that is all about creating ways for people to have healthy and manageable hair. The founder and CEO, Yuko Yamashita, is a stylist, lecturer and the inspiration behind the YUKO brand. The company information says that Yuko’s “passion is about searching for ways to make problem hair manageable without compromising hair health.” This sounded right up my alley.

According to the website, the shampoo is safe for sensitive skin and is sulfate free. It claims to “supplement hair with protein, Aqua Gold, keratin, and collagen” for extra moisture.

The Kokoro G Treatment condioner is also “for dry, sensitive and damaged hair. It nourishes hair with sunflower seed and seaweed extracts, vitamin E, pro-vitamin B5, silk protein, keratin, Aqua Gold, and anti-oxidants.”

I was skeptical at first use because the shampoo made my hair so clean I was unfamiliar with the way it felt. There is absolutely no residue left after you shampoo. I was worried that this meant my hair would be left frizzy and brittle when dry. Then I used the conditioner which is thick and emollient but has no fragrance. This lack of scent had me worried that the formula might be too harsh. (Isn’t it funny how we’re conditioned to believe certain things based on smell?)

To my pleasant surprise, my hair was so beautifully conditioned that I needed only a fraction of the product I normally use to style it. I may even be able to get away with no styling product, but so far I’ve been to chicken to try!  Since I’ve gotten over the initial weird feeling I had over the absence of the slick coat and strong smell that are left by most (even all natural) shampoos and conditioners, I am loving these products. My hair looks great and it feels even better. It is not dry and doesn’t look weighed down by product either. The shampoo retails on Amazon for $15.99, and the conditioner for $16.79. There is also a set on Amazon for $34.99.

Kokoro G shampoo and treatment gets my hard-to-handle-hair seal of approval.
