Short shorts are all the rage this year. Granted, some people probably should not be wearing short shorts. However, if you have fabulous gams, this is the year to show them off!
Of course you can throw on some short shorts with a t-shirt and flip flops and call it a day.
But shorts aren’t just for casual wear. Try them with heeled sandals and a blouse for a fun daytime look.
Or how about a dressy linen short with espadrilles, a ruffled blouse and a stylish jacket? (And don’t forget the hat!)
Not everyone can pull off this daring look, but if you’ve got it, flaunt it!
Here’s a sweet summer look from Banana Republic.
How do you wear your short shorts? (Or do you?)

I have two pairs of shorts – a gray pair for hiking and such and a nice, bright white pair that I love to wear with a bright top and wedges. (but I’m not a huge fan of shorts in general – I much prefer skirts or capris)
I do not wear short shorts…heck no. I like a nice slim city short that almost hits the knee. While my legs are not that bad, my hips and butt are wide enough that I need something longer to balance them out.
I used to wear short shorts but it’s been a couple of years. I just turned 40 last month and while I’m in pretty good shape, I’m just not so sure I should still be sportin’ the short shorts!
I just need to lose about 50 pounds, and I am off to short shorts!
I did not my time with short shorts. I was so relieved when they got long I don’t think I’m going back! And please ladies, no spike heels with short shorts, ok?! 😉
LOL, you guys. I kind of wanting to try one of these looks, but I don’t think I have the guts to do it.
I am so glad short shorts are back in style! Even with a few extra pounds on me my legs have always looked amazing and the short shorts help draw attention to them (and away from the problem mid area).
I agree no spike heels with short shorts, but a good set of wedge shoes look amazing if done right.
Jo-Lynne, you could so pull off the second and last look. I know you would look hot in both.
I like shorts with a 5″ inseam, which is not short short but is not long either. I think that is a length that is still flattering on shorties like me and provides respectable coverage, which is important because I have daughters looking at how I dress and listening to talk about modesty. I rarely see a short shorts with heels look that I like, even wedges. But that’s just me. I do love Old Navy’s perfect fit chino shorts with the 5″ inseam, if you are looking for some to try.
i don’t look great in shorts, tend to go to the shorter a-line skirt instead, more flattering for my short legs!
Mid-thigh is my favorite length for shorts. I used to be a bit more “daring” (pre-kids), but now I try to stick with more modest lengths.
