Oh Gwyneth. You’re trying so, so hard to be a ‘regular mom.’
You’re not, Sweetie.
While your outfit picks in your latest newsletter are TO DIE FOR, they’re just not ‘regular.’ If we added up all the lovely outfits you recommended, it would cost $18,301. Most of us do not plan on spending $18,000 on our spring wardrobes, Darling. We generally spend much, much, MUCH less than that.
Most of us buy our denim skirts for much less than $515. And most of us have entire purse collections that are worth less than then that one $1595 satchel.
Most of us moms do not spend $2,145 on a Silk Stella McCarthy blazer to throw on over our $760 silk dresses on date night.
Gwyneth, try some “designer looks for less” posts or, I don’t know… shopping at Gap or something if you want to relate to “regular” moms.

oh Gwennie… she tries so hard and NO! What in the world? Maybe she thinks only her friends read GOOP. She couldn’t honestly be trying to appeal to the everyday mom. That’s insane!
If I had $18,000, I would find all of these pieces at Target, Gap or LOFT and then spend the $17,700 remaining on something else – paying down my mortgage or my car? Maybe paying off my grad school loans? Maybe I’d even save it!
This is sooo funny. I sometimes stare in disbelief at the prices in magazines, featuring dresses for 500 dollars. But 18.000 is way over the wall 🙂
The sad part about it is how many women go out and buy some designer goods that are waaaaay out of their price range because they see a celeb they like sporting the items.
