Review: Remington Ceramic Hair Setters

I recently got to try out Remington’s T|Studio Pearl Ceramic Heated Clip Hair Setters… in pink. It’s no secret I love pink, and there’s just something so cute and feminine about these lovely curlers. They work fast – heating up in 90 seconds, and each curler only needs about 5 minutes to work its curly magic on your hair.

The entire process takes me about 15 minutes total – I turn it on while I’m getting dressed, fill my hair with pink rollers, then apply my makeup while waiting for the curls to set. They heat up so fast, I actually have to be careful where I touch the rollers as I’m clipping them into my hair – they’re hot!

Obviously I was excited to try the ceramic curlers maid with real pearl (!) that could deliver silky, shiny, smooth curls. But the first time I tried them out I didn’t get any curls. Instead I discovered a fun, new hair style! Soft, pretty waves are very different from my normally stick-straight style, so I brushed them out and finished with a touch of hair spray, hoping to keep the look throughout the day.

Sadly within 30 minutes my hair was about as straight as in that first picture. Thinking that maybe I hadn’t used enough rollers in creating the look, on my next try I used up all twenty of the velvety soft rollers.

Success! My husband wasn’t around to help with before/after shots but I was so thrilled with the beautiful ringlets. It’s a shame by the time I arrived at the office that morning, those ringlets were nothing but soft waves à la attempt #1 above.

So for my third attempt I decided to bring in the big guns – copious amounts of mousse and hairspray applied before, during, and after curling.

This look lasted about 4 hours – but I really need to work on my use of hair product and hair curlers. There’s something oddly reminiscent of dreadlocks when seeing exactly where individual rollers were placed.

It’s funny – growing up in South Florida, all I ever wanted was to get my normally frizzy hair straight. Now that I’m living in a decidedly less humid part of the country, all I want is some gorgeous curls. I think these Remington curlers could really work for my hair, IF I can figure out how to make the look last all day, without looking like I belong in Jamaica.

Anyone have any tips to make these curls last?

  1. I love the ringlets. Wish you could get them to stay all day!

  2. You have beautiful hair, no matter how you do it!
I may get those. I had a set of those and they fell off of the dryer. I find my curl lasts best when I leave the rollers in for a while.
