Who’s planning to host or attend a holiday cookout today? Raise your hand! That’s a lot of hands.
Now, who knows what they’re wearing? Not so many, huh?
If you’re anything like me, you didn’t give a whole lot of thought to this weekend’s attire ahead of time, but when you get dressed for the festivities today, you will want to be stylish but comfortable.
Backyard barbecue style is all about looking effortlessly chic — nothing too fussy, but stylish and put together.
Option #1: Shorts
Banana Republic Printed one-shoulder shirt with their Roll-up shorts and the Sally handcrafted jeweled wedge. Or, if you’re worried about spraining your ankle walking around in the grass in 3-inch heels, try the Frye Kayla T Strap Sandal instead.
OPTION #2: Cropped pants and cardigan for cooler evenings.
Striped Boyfriend Cardigan from LOFT with their Marisa Cropped Cargos and Seed Bead Necklace. Again, I’m sticking with the flat sandals. This outfit would look great with the ALDO Bartee in red.
OPTION #3: Maxi Dress
There’s always the ultra feminine maxi dress, like the BCBGMAXAZRIA – ZigZag Maxi Dress (Chambray Combo) – Apparel. Unless you’re 6 feet tall like this model, you’ll probably want to wear your maxi dress with a pair of wedge sandals. Just make sure you stay off the grass.
OPTION #4: Classic Shift
For an elegant look, conisder a classic Lilly Pulitzer shift — the Jacqueline is perfect for a Memorial Day weekend backyard barbecue. Pair it with delicate sandals and a simple bangle and you’ll be the envy of the party!
What are you and your family doing to observe Memorial Day this year??

Great article. One thing to note if you have shorter or thicker legs you should opt for the heels to acheive the looks in the photos above. They are all portrayed as though they were.
I comment whenever I like a post on a blog or if I have something to
valuable to contribute to the discussion. Usually it is caused by the passion displayed in
the post I browsed. And on this post What to Wear:
Backyard Barbecue Style. I was moved enough to post a leave a responsea response 😉 I actually do have a few questions for you if it’s okay. Could it be simply me or do some of the remarks appear like they are left by brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are writing on other sites, I would like to keep up with everything fresh you have to post. Could you make a list all of all your community pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
It’s going to be ending of mine day, but before end I am reading this great post to increase my experience.
