Engagement Session Options: A Dress

We’re getting our engagement pictures taken next week.  Yes, I know.  We’re already married.  But the session was included in our wedding photography package and I’m definitely not going to let it go to waste.

So it’s more like we’re getting our one-year-and-two-months photos taken.  It’s all the same.

But now the major dilemma.  What on earth do I wear?

I’m thinking we will have an outfit change mid-way through, with one half of the session in completely casual clothing and the other slightly more dressed up.  So that being said, I’m on the hunt for the perfect casual, yet flattering dress that will complement my husband wearing jeans and a white button down.

And as usual, I’m stuck on Loft.com.  There are too many options!

First up is the Gathered Knit Dress. I adore the color, but I’m not sure about the fabric sash.  I’d definitely prefer to cinch the waist with a flattering belt instead.  And then the Carla Flutter Sleeve dress caught my eye – I’m loving these pale rosy colors.

The Ruffle Front white and black dress is a surefire option for me.  Except that I’m concerned it would look too ‘businessy’ for engagement photos.

And then I stumbled upon my two front-runners.  The Ruffle Front olive green dress.  Sleek, shimmery and flattering with an exposed back zipper for a bit of detail.  And of course, my love of grey can look no further than the Juliette Lace Cap Sleeve dress.  A sophisticated sheath with romantic lace adorning the sleeves.  And did I mention that it’s grey?  I LOVE grey.

Which one would you choose for an engagement session?  Should I dress classic or more trendy?  What did you wear to your engagement session?

  1. Personally I like the classic black and white number. Or even the grey. That way 10 years down the road they won’t look outdated colorwise.

  2. Classic classic! I love love the black and white number… and if your man dresses to “match”, who cares if it’s businessy? So classic!

  3. I love the white/black, but if hubs is in jeans, I’d think the Carla or Juliette would be better. Or something even more casual, like wide-leg shorts & a fluttery blouse. I know you’ll look great in whatever you choose!! Make sure and show us what you chose!
