Do you follow @Gap on Twitter? If not, go ahead and do so now. I’ll wait.
OK. So on Tuesday, I saw this tweet in my feed, and I took the bait. I clicked:
The Sweater Dress the tweet referred to was this one. And I will admit it: I first clicked and thought, ewwwwwww! Seriously, Gap? This is almost red leather drop-crotch pants bad. (No, I take that back. NOTHING is that bad.)
But then, THEN, I clicked on the secondary picture on the page. WELL THEN. Now we are talking!
Dorky jazz-hands aside, HOW CUTE is this styling?? I love it. LOVE it. All of a sudden, this sweater dress has redeemed itself. And now I am itching (no pun intended. What, the dress IS wool!) to put it in my cart and buy it.
How about you? What do you think of this look? Would you style it differently? Do you consider it a “statement piece” as Gap does? Discuss!

I love the second look, but I think I’d wear it with a more traditional scarf, and let the ends hang down long in front. 🙂
I definitely like the 2nd picture better, but it looks like a bit too much going on to me. I’d also be afraid I’d get too warm in a long sleeve wool sweater dress with another sweater and scarf as well.
I would style it EXACTLY like the 2nd. but that’s just my style. I just hate wool. So it’s out for me.
Becky dearest. I love you. In that cyber bloggy love kind of way. But really? LOL! WHO but a skinny 25-year old would look good in that? I could see it with skinny jeans maybe, and like Jo-Lynne said, a more modest scarf. MWAH.
Honey. I would ROCK THE CRAP OUT OF IT. I promise.
Love the 2nd look and would style it just the same. It takes on a whole new element when styled in the 2nd as opposed to the 1st.
I think the 2nd look is cute, however, unless you were going to stand outside and make jazz hands it’s not really a practical look. Where on earth would you wear that? You would get over heated immediately inside, so you’d have to take off the over sweater, the scarf, and probably the extra pair of boot socks, and then you’d be stuck with a fugly striped sweater dress.
Ok, maybe a hay ride or sleigh ride while sipping hot cocoa.
HA! This made me laugh out loud.
I will say, however, that considering I am sitting here with a sweater, jacket and scarf on – I think I could make it work in the office. 😉
well then, carry on “ye of no sweat glands”. 😉
Ha! More like, air vent right above my desk in a green building. Taking one for the team in the name of temperature regulation, woo!
I love it! I pretty much will luv anything with stripes but I love everything, the short cardi, the bulky scarf and the tights and boots. Does she have thigh high socks on too?
The whole look is very cosy chic. Sweet!
