Often when a designer collaborates with a budget mass marketer, the clothes appear attractive from a certain distance. But they can be lacking in fundamental elements of quality when you hold the garments in your hand, or put them on your body. This is not the case with the new street-ready denim and other casual gear from the new season of Rock & Republic for Kohl’s. I was lucky enough to sit front row for the show with an industry friend and we spent the entire ten minutes with our mouths agape. Sitting this close, we could see the hair on the
models’ legs, so we certainly could tell the quality the pieces.
And it was all good.
The upbeat music that played during the show was a perfect compliment to this upbeat and funky collection of dresses, jeans and separates. Cork platform shoes with stylish metallic detailing and bright skinny denim are just some examples of a collection that is sure to stun editors, stylists and real women all across the country. The men’s collection was similarly fashion-forward yet street-appropriate with edgy details like faux leather cuff bracelets juxtaposed against relaxed basics like the perfect pair of jeans and a smart graphic tee.
I ended up leaving the event with a black studded mini dress, black graphic tee and a gorgeous pair of cerulean blue cropped skinnies in tow. My jeans look and feel like a $300 pair at least. Yet their price? $80. A girl could get used to this. With extremely close ties to Rock & Republic’s already existing point of view, this is a casual-meets-sassy collection of contemporary basics that will give you more than confidence. It will provide you with some serious sticker shock…in a good way.
The new collection of Rock & Republic, mostly comprised of pieces well under $100 each, is available today February 15th at kohls.com and at Kohl’s locations everywhere.
Happy shopping!
Buy these, while you’re there, okay?
