Project Runway Recap: Episode 11

We’re down to the final three which means a runway show is in our future!

Usually on Project Runway, the designers are given months to prepare their collection for a highly publicized runway show, but this is All-Stars, so of course there’s a bit of a twist.  The designers get off a little easy by only having to create a mini-collection of five looks instead of ten or twelve, but the real kicker?  They only have FOUR days to complete them!

The excitement, desperation and second-guessing begin almost immediately, but first lets take a moment to mourn the loss of Austin’s mustache.

He just needed a fresh perspective, that’s all.

Back to fashion…the designers visit Joanna at Marie Claire’s GORGEOUS offices to discuss the upcoming show and the guest editor position that one designer will be taking home as a prize.  And then Austin, Michael and Mondo retreat to Central Park to sketch, day-dream and enjoy the sunshine.

After a trip to Mood, the ‘theme’ of each designer’s collection comes to light – Austin is going for something I don’t quite follow: “Fragonard, Madame de Pompadour meets 20th century rock star slash Williamsburg Hasidic gentleman.”  Michael is exploring safari feels and Mondo is just being eccentric.  He has a minor, ahem, major breakdown through most of the episode and after a good cry, comes up with a ‘therapy’ theme that Joanna assures him is brilliant.

Each designer also gets to select an assistant from the Ghosts of Project Runways past ending up with a team of Austin and Anthony, Mondo and Mila and Michael with April.

Next week the final collection will show, but until then, we have a sneak peak of a look from each designer:

Which one is your favorite?  I think Austin’s dress is spectacular, but Mondo’s separates are so ready-to-wear.

  1. I hate when they do a two-parter and cut off the episode right before the runway! Aahhhh so cruel!
