Looking for a fun event with an excuse to look stylish in Houston this month? Look no further than this week’s Art After Dark: First Saturday Arts Market in The Heights. This outdoor fine arts festival features the works of dozens of visual artists and features live music and great food. Held July 7th from 6 to 10pm, this month will feature singer/songwriter and violinist, Chenoa Farrell and her folk rock band.
Wine by the glass will be available from The Heights’ winery Vintner’s Own and food will be available from It’s A Wrap gourmet food truck and Mr. Zrake’s Cakes.
More than three dozen artists will showcase their craft including Laurnen Luna’s one of kind ode to shoes! Luna has a unique way of combining fashion and art with illustrations and rhinestones and the like. Shoe lovers must see it.
So are you wondering what to wear to Art After Dark?
July is the perfect month to break out the red, white and blue in classic, yet chic, style. My favorite way to do this is with white cropped pants or even white denim. These jeans from Not Your Daughter’s Jeans (NYDJ) for sale right now at Nordstrom totally fit the bill.
Nothing goes better with white pants than a navy blue polka dot top like this one from Bellefleur. Very Audrey Hepburn.
And the best way to add polish and flair to this summer style? Super hot red patent sandals. If money were no object I would totally choose these kitten heel slides by Prada.
However since Prada is not usually in my budget, my back up choice would be these killer Franco Sarto cork high heels.
So what do you think about this classic red, white and blue look?

I love these looks, this is the exact reason why I love Nordstrom!! The outfit is spectacular for summer evenings out and red shoes are perfect for popping color into any outfit!!
That shirt is fabulous!! I think I need to hit Nordstrom this week!
I love those cork heels – although I’m not graceful enough to wear them at a street festival! I’d probably trip!
