1. For this up-do, Edward brushed through the hair pulling it back into a high ponytail and securing with a bungee elastic.
2. He then gently twisted the ponytail until it began to coil. Loosely pinning the hair into place as he went.
3. Edward began then style as a bun wrapping the hair around the base of the ponytail and then moved off center to create a more interesting, abstract look.
4. The hair was pinned into place and finished off with a layer of hairspray.
[Expert Tip: Don’t have the length to create this style? Fake it! Models with shorter hair or less thickness wore hair pieces to add fullness.]
Glamorous waves for everyday or a special day–
It wasn’t just the catwalks showing off the latest in chic hair styles; the front row was also full of killer ideas. Rose Byrne wore her hair in these pretty, tousled waves for Lucky Magazine’s Fashion Week party at Chelsea Piers. Whether you have the bangs or not, you can make it happen at home by following these easy steps from John Frieda International Consultant Harry Josh:
1. Apply mousse like John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver through towel-dried hair and brush to distribute evenly.
2. Blow dry hair completely. Once dry, in small sections wrap hair vertically around a 1-inch curling iron, curling away from the face from root to ends. Break up the curls by running your fingers through them for a softer look.
3. Set with a glossy, shine-boosting spray. They suggest Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier firm-hold hair spray.
No matter what looks you see on TV or in magazines, you can create them at home with a little patience and plenty of supplies. Whatever your length or texture, every girl needs the following basics in her hair arsenal:
Bobby pins— You can pull back a few wisps or create a cool braided style; all you need are a few of these tried-and-true pins. H&M sells many colors in a cheap 12-pack. Goody’s are super strong and last forever. Make them a little special with a DIY project that you and your daughter can enjoy–glue little bows onto hers and a fun vintage brooch (sans back) onto yours. Instant glam!
Strong hold hair spray— My favorite is Neil George’s; my hair always holds its style with this one. If you can’t foot the $22 price tag, try L’oreal’s Elnett, available at most drugstores. Many beauty insiders and fashion industry execs say that their strongest memory of the 80’s was the scent of Elnett. It’s no wonder why!
Deep conditioner— Between color, blow outs, end-of-summer swims and more, our hair gets tired. If you have colored or chemically treated hair, a deep conditioner is especially important. If not, you should still use one every couple of weeks. After shampooing and conditioning hair, work in deep conditioner from roots to ends. Wrap hair in a shower cap, keep it in there for at least 30 minutes and then rinse out. You will have glossier, healthier locks after a few applications!

I’m glad the bun lives on–now I just have to master making one!
The trick is confidence. Even if yours is a little messy, you can still rock it! Another tip to making any bun chic–add thick ribbon at the base, tying in a simple knot at the back of the bun and allowing the ends to dangle. This instantly glams-up any bun while hiding scraggly ends 🙂
Have fun!
