Hada Labo Tokyo: Japan’s Popular Skincare in the US

I had never heard of Hada Labo Toyko when the items arrived on my doorstep, but I was intrigued immediately. I’m always up for trying new skincare products and this one looked different from any I’ve seen.  The entire line contains no fragrances, no parabens, no dyes and no mineral oils. So how does it work?

Super Hyaluronic Acid. This occurs naturally in our skin and naturally locks in moisture. But as we age, production declines and leaves our skin dull and dehydrated. Hada Labo Tokyo is the only skincare line that contains this super ingredient that saturates skin with rich, lasting moisture that helps plump fine lines and wrinkles.

I’ve been using the entire system for almost a month now and I have been thrilled – THRILLED with the results! My skin is incredibly smooth and I have none of the flaking and dryness I typically see in winter. I have very sensitive skin and this line has caused zero irritation. My combo skin is moisturized, but not at all oily. The price points are terrific – pricer than a typical drug store brand, but still less than most department store ones. And these products will last – after a month, I’ve barely put a dent in my products, despite using them every day. They should last you several months, even with daily use.

Here’s the system:

Hydrating Facial Cleanser ($11.99): This creamy cleanser is gentle and smooths on your face while cleansing and moisturizing skin. I love the creamy texture – use it with a Clarisonic and blow your mind.

Protecting Day Lotion ($17.99): After cleansing in the morning, follow with this light lotion. It absorbs quickly and with SPF 18, it is the perfect first layer under your makeup. Many lotions with SPF are thick and heavy and are take forever to absorb – or they make my makeup slides right off. This one is just perfect – I’ll definitely be using it for summer!

Replenishing Hydrator ($17.99): For winter, I need a bit more moisture than a day cream, especially living in New England. Winter is harsh and my skin gets super dry and flaky. Then I have to use those thick creams that make my skin somehow dry and oily at the same time. The Replenishing Hydrator is amazing. Its a clear liquid that honestly I doubted would do much for me. How could something so thin deliver the moisture I needed? But it really delivered. Somehow, my skin just drank up this lightweight formula and was soft and smooth. No flakes, none of the tightness that usually plagues me in winter. One of these babies is sold EVERY TWO SECONDS in Japan. For good reason. If you buy one thing from this line – get this!

Anti-Aging Hydrator ($17.99): This is similar to the Replenishing Hydrator, only it also contains a Retinol Complex and Collagen to really take out those wrinkles. It moisturized my skin and left it with a slightly tight feeling and silky smooth. If you need anti-aging skincare, this is great for your evening routine (and save the Replenishing Hydrator for daytime.)

Skin Plumping Gel Cream ($24.99): If you need a bit more for evening moisturizing, try this one. LOVE! Its super-lightweight and goes on smooth. Its like a combination serum and moisturizer – perfect if (like me) you typically find anti-aging serums too hard and drying on your skin. I’ve been using this as night and love the way my skin feels when it absorbs. Firm, smooth and moisturized!  They suggest this can also be used as an eye cream, but I found it a bit too runny for that.

Overall? I say A+!

disclosure: i received samples of these products for review consideration. i was not compensated financially and all opinions are my own.
