Between shopping for and taking care of the kids, the husband, the house, and so much more, most moms don’t have the time to shop for themselves or the budget to spend on a personal stylist to shop for them. Enter Stitch Fix – an easy way to wear the latest trends with very little effort. They describe themselves as an online personal styling service for women.
My good friend Dr. Maria started using (and fell in love with) Stitch Fix last fall and agreed to share some of her experience. A busy pediatrician (and mom to two active boys), Maria wanted to look professional and on-trend at work but didn’t have much time to shop.
Here’s the beauty of Stitch Fix – you fill out an intense style profile so their stylists get to know you well, try every hand-picked item on in the privacy of your home whenever your time allows, drop off whatever you don’t want to keep at any USPS mailbox (free returns included!), and get improved recommendations over time as the Stitch Fix stylists get to know your style.
Filling out your style profile takes time, as well it should. They ask for everything from your primary occupation to your sizing for dresses vs. shirts, your bra size to your preferred fabrics, and of course your budget.
So how much does Stitch Fix cost? First you pay a $20 styling fee for each shipment (which you can use towards the payment of your order). Then if you keep all five items they send, you get 25% off the entire order. And the items all stay within your personal pre-set price range (the items do average about $65 each though).
Don’t expect to find Ann Taylor or Calvin Klein in your package – Stitch Fix works with up-and-coming brands, the kind you often see on stylish celebs. So fun!
Some examples include Collective Concepts, Kut From The Kloth, Daniel Rainn, Kensie, and Sanctuary Clothing. For example, Dr. Maria’s outfits in this shipment came from designers 41Hawthorn, Chris and Carol, Katherine Barclay, and Tulle.
Even better, Stitch Fix offers gift cards. Ladies, now’s the time to start dropping hints with hubby in time for Mother’s Day…
