Best New Find for Summer Sun Protection

My makeup routine has to be quick.

I’m guessing it’s the same for many of you. There’s work to get to, carpools to run, grocery shopping to be done, diapers to be changed. All that doesn’t leave a whole lot of time to fuss over your face.

In the past, because of my chronic time crunch, I have purposely skipped applying sunscreen to my face each morning. (This is probably shocking, seeing as how I’m constantly harping about sun protection, sun damage, yada, yada, yada.) But the fact of the matter is, every time I applied sunscreen as the first step of my makeup routine, it would take forever to absorb. It felt greasy. And sticky. And it simply didn’t allow for an even application of makeup over it.

So, I’d skip it all together and rely on my mineral foundation as the primary sunscreen for my face. The problem with this is that although my foundation does provide some sun protection, it’s nowhere near strong enough for the Georgia summer sun.

Thank goodness I found this:

neutrogena

Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock uses “Dry Touch technology” to provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection in “an ultra-light, non-shiny finish.”

While I’m not exactly sure what the “Dry Touch technology” is, I can say with absolute certainty that it works. This sunscreen absorbs and dries within seconds. In fact, after a minute it doesn’t even feel like I put anything on. It feels completely weightless and allows for even makeup application. It’s also waterproof, sweatproof, non-comedogeic and PABA-free. All that for only about $10 a tube.

Weightless, fast-drying sun protection to last me the whole summer long. Neutrogena’s got me covered.

It’s the answer to my time-crunched prayers.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock is available at most mass market retailers.

Thanks! I get totally overwhelmed in the sunscreen product aisle…and just wind up walking away, thinking I’ll come home and look online and figure out which product is best LATER. (Never happens.) But now I have your post- I needed this. I’ll give it a try!

  2. As someone who has had many dermatologist visits because of too much sun in my life (and who lives in Arizona), I wear sunscreen on my face every day of the year. This is a good one, though I do still “feel” like I have sunscreen on when I wear it. I use Eucerin Sensitive Skin Everyday Protection – the moisturizer is terrific and it’s SPF 30. It doesn’t have that sunscreen smell and it doesn’t feel like you have sunscreen on at all.

I’m totally with you on the easy in the morning, though – I’ve got three boys and they keep me on my toes. 🙂

  3. Awesome! I’ll have to check this out before our trip to the beach next month too.
