I love vintage. I love modern. And I love one-of-a-kind jewelry that's affordable. So imagine how in love I was when I stumbled across the Betty Bead Boutique on Etsy one day! A shop filled with vintage inspired jewelry with a modern twist.
Such as these gorgeous Boysenberry Filigree Necklaces:
Or these stunning moss daisy and ocean filigree rings:
Really for me, she had me with these victorian inspired hairpins:
Sigh…put them on my holiday list. Lucky for all of you, Betty Bead Boutique is going to give one bStylish reader a set of Seaside Rose hairpins! Soft aqua and peach roses adorned with brass filigrees…perfect to add some elegance to any outfit!
But before we giveaway this fabulous hairpins, I'd love to introduce you to the brains behind the operation (I always like to do a little interviewing with Etsians so you can get the story behind the shop). So without further ado, let's meet Lauren, the inspiring designer of the Betty Bead Boutique!
Hello, I'm Lauren! Currently I'm a full-time college student, majoring in economics and minoring in literature. Next to designing, my biggest passion is baking – I've been turning out pumpkin pies for the better part of a decade!
Why did you decide to open an Etsy shop, where did your idea come from?
I love buying new jewelry at an alarming rate, but I hate finding that it reacts badly with my skin because of a nickel allergy. So a few years ago, I began making my own necklaces and rings with nickel-free metals. Of course, making jewelry is quite addicting, and I soon expanded to other styles. Being introduced to Etsy through an acquaintance gave me the perfect venue to sell my designs!
I have to know, what is the story behind your shop's name?
The Betty Bead Boutique is named for the flapper girls of the 1920s, who were often described as wearing long strings of "betty beads" around their necks.
What inspires you when making your fabulous line of jewelry and hair accessories?
While I love finding inspiration in the era of the Great Gatsby, I also enjoy keeping up with current trends. Whether they feature florals or fawns, my personal favorite pieces showcase a melding of vintage and modern styles.
Coveting those hairpins above? I know, me too. And one lucky bStylish reader will be receiving them! Here's how to enter:
