Last week Melissa and I had the opportunity to attend a fabulous Store Opening Event at the Lilly Pulitzer store in Ardmore, PA.
When we walked in, two of their designers were working on this amazing painted canvas. This is actually how all of their fabrics are born. They are all designed in house, right here in King of Prussia, PA!
When we left, this was the finished product:
The store was awash in blues and pinks and greens and yellows. I felt like I had walked from a cold, rainy night in Pennsylvania into a warm, sunny, beachy resort town.
It makes sense, as Lilly Pulitzer lived in Palm Beach and ran a juice stand after marrying Peter Pulitzer. Inspired by her a closet full of juice-stained clothes, she decided to launch a line of brightly colored shift dresses covered in playful prints. Of course, her dresses became a hit, and the rest is history. Incidentally, she was only 21 years old!
We all enjoyed a glass of wine and a few treats before we found ourselves in the dressing rooms trying on dresses.
I tried on this adorable sheath dress. Now I can’t stop thinking about it. Wouldn’t it be adorable with a jean jacket and strappy wedge sandals this summer?
Colleen, Julie and Melissa also found some great dresses.
We had a great time. Here we are on our way back out into the rain.

I am lucky to have been gifted a still-in-mint-condition Lilly Dress from the 80s (I think). It is pink, yellow, blue, green, and has sweet eyelet trim and smocking across the back. It was too big on my though and the straps weren’t sitting right on my frame. To the alteration shop and now I have the CUTEST vintage lilly strapless dress which I love to wear with pears and a cardigan (can you believe I found one in EXACTLY the right shade of yellow at of all places target!?) to summertime weddings.

I love the long sleeve tunic Mandy Dress. It’s something I could wear to work or on a casual weekend.
