Liquid Palisade Review

We’ve all polished our nails and accidentally “went outside the lines”.  Especially as a beginner, it was hard for me to not polish my cuticles while painting my nails. I’ve gotten a million times better since then, but I still make mistakes from time to time.  So I was excited to try out Liquid Palisade.

According to their website Liquid Palisade is “a protective barrier against unwanted nail polish mishaps! Simply paint liquid palisade wherever you DON’T want polish.”

First I tested this on my daughter.  Since she’s still a beginner I wanted to see how easy it would be for her to use.  She was able to paint it on pretty easily and it dried in about a minute or so.  You can tell when it’s dry because it turns a dark raspberry pink color from it’s initial lilac hue.

The Liquid Palisade instructions said, “paint liquid palisade wherever you DON’T want polish.”  So we included the skin at the end of her nails because they are so short.

The instructions also say to peel off before the polish is dry.  However, we had to do two coats and with most polishes you’ll have to so we waited until after we applied the second coat to peel it off.

It comes off in one piece, like a stretchy string, so we were glad about that.  It worked fairly well, but it didn’t leave a completely clean edge around the polish.  The edges were a bit pulled up, which is hard to see in this photo.

But it’s very evident on the pinky nail in this one.

Clearly we were beginners using this product and I wasn’t totally ready to give up on it, so I tried it again on myself later than night {which explains the crappy night time photos…sorry}.

It didn’t peel up as bad this time, but as you can see on the first nail pictured, near the cuticle it still wasn’t a perfectly smooth edge.  I attribute that to the fact that the product should be peeled up before the first coat is dry and with most polishes that’s just not going to cut it.

Liquid Palisade is supposed to be good for nail art too, so I tried some quick stripes over my current mani and the color we used on Rayna’s nails.

Clearly I’m not good at freehand.

I wanted to try the French Manicure idea too, but I ran out of time that day.  I would like to try it in the future though and also play around with some other nail art ideas using Liquid Palisade because honestly I think that’s all I would end up using this for.

If you are a beginner with nail polish and just can’t keep from painting your cuticle area, this might be worth a try for you.  If keeping your cuticle area free of polish isn’t an issue, but you really love nail art, this could be fun for you.

I suck at painting my nails and I hate to pay to have them done…but that is the only option since my husband is no better than I and the kids aren’t coming anywhere near me w/ nail polish! This gives me hope.
