My husband is an engineer and my daughter inherited the engineering gene. She could build massive LEGO creations following over 100 steps when she was 6. She can figure out complex science experiements without help. She may be my pink, fluffy princess who loves dolls and glitter, but she is also a rockstar at science and engineering!
Which is why I’m thrilled to be partnering with .
Men grossly outnumber women in the fields of science, engineering, technology and math. Research is showing that girls lose interest in those fields as early as age 8 – and GoldieBlox is determined to fix this! By designing construction and engineering toys from a female perspective, GoldieBlox hopes to inspire the next generation of female engineers.
But GoldieBlox is more than just a pink version of boys’ toys. A tremendous amount of research has gone in to finding out just how girls learn best. It turns out that the construction kits are centered around a character and a story for a reason; girls typically have strong verbal skills, so a story + construction set bolsters confidence in spatial skills while giving young inventors the tools they need to build and create amazing things.
At the beginning of every story, some basic engineering vocabulary is introduced and the pieces you get with GoldieBlox are based on the Seven Simple Machines (wheel and axis, lever, pulley, etc.) which are the basic building blocks of every physical thing.
When the founders of GoldieBlox were asked about specific skills they hope to teach girls with their toys, they said: “One of the most critical skills we are teaching around engineering is simply confidence. Research has shown us that girls are less likely to pursue an activity if they don’t know they will be amazing at it. So by giving girls confidence and exposure to words, when they see and hear these words later in life, they won’t be as intimidated, because they will already understand the concepts!”
Gracie just adores her GoldieBlox! She was so proud to put them together all by herself and show her engineer daddy what a great job she did!

Do you have a girl in your life who would love GoldieBox? We’re giving away a Parade Float and a Dunk Tank kit!!

I love this!! I know my nieces would love GoldieBlox!
I’ve heard of them but never actually seen/played with them.
I’m definitely telling my sister in laws!! And what perfect gift for the holidays!
I so love this! My Caroline is pretty good with her hands as well. She’s always the one helping her dad with his fix-it chores. She’d love this.
My daughters LOVE GoldieBlox! Such a great toy!
We loved these–hours of creative fun.
I’ve always been interested in spacial relationships, construction and math! I grew up to be an interior designer, so it was fitting, but reading those stats makes me sad. I want my daughter to feel comfortable pursuing anything she chooses and this toy seems like a great introduction into the areas mentioned. Thanks for hosting!
Love the concept — interested in getting my daughter one too!
So cool! I love smart toys for girls.
What a smart girl and love how she is showing her intelligence and creativity with these toys
As a mom to a girl who’s “Good in Math”, where her older brother is not, I really want to encourage STEM for her. She loves building and figuring things out, thanks for posting!
I think these sets are beyond cool!
Love the concept of Goldie Blox!
Love the concept and I know that A and M would love it. What still scares me are the little parts though – especially with S and T around. Maybe it’s time to take the plunge and let the older girls try it out while supervised…
I am excited about the DIY of the week.
GoldieBlox and the
Movie Machine would be so much fun for a little girl I know whose parents are amateur filmmakers.
The movie machine kit looks fantastic!
