Hey, hey everyone! I’m Trina, a 30-something married momma of 2. I was born and raised in Sweet Home Alabama, and my family and I still call it home. I’ve always loved fashion and makeup but over the last few years have really become obsessed with it. I contribute here at Chic Critique every other Tuesday, but you can also find me here.
So on to the point of this post, the goodies in my makeup bag.
I’m always changing up products, looking for the best of the best. So this is what I’m using now, but it could be different next month, you just never know. That makes me sound a little complicated I think, but just wait til you see my arsenal of products. After seeing all the other girls’ goodies, I’ve come to realize I am a tad high maintenance, ha!
Here is Part One of my makeup routine. These are the items I apply before leaving the house. Confused yet? Stay with me.

- Lacura Moisturizer Wrinkle Remodeler with Collagen
- Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer
- Hard Candy Nobody’s Perfect Concealer Palette in Light.
- Max Factor Color Genius Foundation in 250 Ivory No. 5
- i.d. Mineral Veil (My mom gave this to me. I use it to set everything in place.)
Part Two gets applied in the car. {Don’t worry, I carpool with my mom to work, she drives. I gotta save every precious minute I can in the mornings ya know! HA!}
My eyeshadows. Yes, I carry this with me everyday. I definitely lose the award to the rest of you when it comes to minimalism. I can’t help it, I like options.
Everything else I use goes in my little black expandable bag (that I failed to upload a pic of, oops!).
- MAC Paint Pot shadow primer in Bare Study
- L’Oreal HIP in Sculpted
- MAC Pro Palette with shadows in Dazzle Light, Tete-A-Tint, Shimmer Moss and Plumage
- Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol II (It just so happens to sport my signature – peacock feathers!). Most used colors are Gunmetal, AC/DC, Sellout, Mushroom, Twice Baked, Jinx, and Misdemeanor.
- Smokey Eye dual tip shadow brush from Studio35.
- All Over Eyeshadow brush from mark.
- Eyeshadow Brush from e.l.f.
- Blending Brush from e.l.f.
The finishing touches….

- Eyemarker eyeliners from mark. in Lapis, Java and Enchanted Forest.
- MegaEyes defining marker in Blackest Black by WetNWild.
- MAX Volume Lash by Rimmel.
- All Over Color Stick by e.l.f. in Pink Lemonade (I use as highlight for cheekbones).
- MAC powder blush in The Perfect Cheek applied with the mark. Small Powder brush.
- Tweezerman Tweezers (I’ve had these for 12 years!)
- Covergirl Invisible Concealer in Light (for my DIY Nude Lip).
- Covergirl Amazemint Lipgloss in No Care Bare.
- Covergirl Lipslicks in Cutie.
And here’s the finished result:
And yes I realize from this angle you can’t see any of that gorgeous eyeshadow because of my Hooded Eyelid Syndrome curse. My eyes almost disappear when I smile.
So for the sake of showing you a better shot of my eye makeup, here is a really goofy faced picture of me.
Please excuse the pucker 😉
Just as an added FYI, here are the items that are HERE TO STAY (in order of appearance):
- MAC Paint Pot – it’s like glue for my eyeshadow. I raved about it here.
- MAC and Urban Decay shadows – these shadows have amazing color pigmentation and what you see in the pan is what you get on your lid. That’s how eyeshadow should be.
- All eye brushes mentioned – cheap and effective. My kind of product.
- Tweezerman tweezers – these tweezers are the best I’ve ever used and they have lasted forever. The pair I’ve owned for 12 years still tweeze as well as when I first got them.
- Covergirl Amazemint lipgloss – fantastic nude gloss with yummy peppermint extract that leaves the best tingle on my lips!
- Covergirl Lipslicks in Cutie – I’ve used this color on and off for at least 1o years. I might eventually grow out of it, but for now it’s staying.
As you can see, lots of products are doing the job but if a better product comes along will certainly be replaced. If you have any suggestions for me, leave them in the comments!

Do you like that Hard Candy primer?? Now I neeed to get myself to Wal-Mart and check it out!!
I do like it. But since it’s my first experience with primer, I couldn’t put it in my HERE TO STAY list. I have nothing to compare it to yet. But it does make my makeup go on smoother/easier than if I don’t use it.
So bottom line, I can say I that primer in itself is here to stay but I’m open to try other brands.
I do love LipSlicks, too. I carry one in my purse all the time. And I’ve been hearing a lot about Rimmel mascaras! Might have to try one out. I also just bought the L’Oreal Hip eyeshadows – haven’t even opened them, though.
You look beautiful!
Wow! Great stuff! I use the Mark eyeliners and love them. They work well for me and never seem to smudge like others. I also have hooded eyelids and because of this I usually stick to neutral eye shadows. I really want to try some new things with eye makeup though. What exactly is that primer? I have super oily skin so that is a battle for me. Wonder if a primer would help?
Nicole
Not sure if you mean the eye primer or face primer so I’ll tell you about both.
The eye primer helps your eyeshadow stay in place all day without creasing.
The face primer is supposed to help even out texture in your skin so that foundation goes on better and stays all day.
Hope that helps!
Nicole, I think you would really like eye shadow primer. Give it a try!
You do have quite a collection, girlie! 🙂 I love it.
I wish I would’ve remembered to take a picture of my makeup case too! I have a ton of makeup and tons of eyeshadows. I love eyeshadows but I have a hard time finding colors that I like. You are super adorable and I love your makeup. I need to work on my makeup routine now. How do you do your eyeliner? It is great!
Thanks Jayme! I used my liquid eye liner that day and I’m actually still trying to get the hang of it. It definitely requires a steady hand 🙂
It took playing around with colors I wouldn’t normally wear to get me out of what I like to call the “brown zone” lol I wore brown tones my whole adult life until just recently. Color is fun!
I want to hear more about the Lacura Moisturizer Wrinkle Remodeler with Collagen. I am having a hard time finding it online. Recently I have really started to become “obsessed” with my skin and keeping a youthful appearance. I LOVE your Peacock collection of shadows! That is awesome! I would bring that everywhere with me if I had it as well! Fun!
Hi, I also like the Lacura wrinkle remodeler with collegan, but cannot find it anymore at my stockbridge, ga Aldi’s, also looked at another store close by but they didn’t have it either. Do you know of anywhere else you can get this? Thanks, Pat Pritchett, bppritchet@bellsouth.net
