In the last few years, I have developed a passion for running. There are many challenges when you take up a sport such as running — joint pain, toenails turning black, developing the mental and physical stamina to sustain those long runs . . . but when you’re a busty girl, you have another challenge to face before you can hit the pavement. Finding proper clothing can prove to be quite a roadblock!
It seems like almost every summer running top is made with a racer back. Racer back tops are cool and cute and all that jazz, but when you require a prescription-strength bra to hold the girls in place, those cute racer back tops are pretty much a pipe dream.
You wouldn’t think it would be too much to ask to find sleeveless tops with decent coverage, but when I went to a local athletic store to stock up on summer tops, I was sorely disappointed to find that almost every single sleeveless top had the dreaded racer back.
So I resorted to my good friend, The Google, to find some running tops that are sleeveless and comfortable for running in the summer heat, but also provide enough coverage to hide the brazier.
So far, my favorite top is the a Asics Women’s Favorite Tank Top. It comes in six fabulous colors. I have it in Ocean but I just ordered two more in Pink Glow and Purple Pop. Not only is this top comfortable, the cut and seaming is incredibly flattering. It is fitted but not tight. I can’t say enough good things about it.
The other one that I ordered that I really love is the New Balance Women’s Heather Tank Top. I have it in Sangria, and again, I am tempted to order it in at least one other color. It’s very forgiving if you hold weight in your midsection, and it provides coverage for most bras while still showing enough skin to be feminine.
The Athleta Stride Top is another one that provides coverage while till being flattering. It does fit very snug so you may want to size up with this one.
This New Balance Women’s Performance Tank Top with Lightning Dry Fabric is cute but I haven’t tried it.
Finally, the Lululemon Clarity Tank is on my wish list. They claim that the body-skimming fit and wide straps layer easily over your favorite bra and the soft, breathable Vitasea fabric helps the tank keep its shape so we can stretch without worrying about stretching it out. The zippy green is just so fresh and fun, I’m dying to add it to my running wardrobe.
If you have a great sleeveless summer running top that provides full coverage, let us know!
Great choices. I really like the top from Athleta.
If I ever actually start running (I really need to stop procrastinating!) I will need tops that provide some support. Love the Athleta one!! 🙂
