Prioritize YOU in 2016 with P&G *GIVEAWAY*

This year, is all about self-care. I read an amazing book this spring – The Fringe Hours by my good friend Jessica – and I felt so convicted. I’d been neglecting myself in so many ways, from not getting enough sleep to not taking time to do the things I enjoy. I was working, mothering and sleeping – and that was pretty much it. No wonder I was so burned out!

It was such an eye opening moment for me. It truly changed my life! Now I’ve started carving time out of my week to care for myself – getting to the gym, taking a class or just getting the sleep I need. And I’m a better woman for it!

So this year, I’m doing a few small things to take better care of myself:

 

Hydrate: I will drink something besides coffee, even during a cold Philly winter (It’s seriously 5 degrees this week. Yesterday morning, I drank four cups of coffee, just because I was so cold!)! I’m working on replacing coffee with some herbal tea and lemon water. We tend to forget about staying hydrated in this cold, winter weather – but the dryness in the air can really take its toll!

Minimize heat styling – We all know that heat styling is so drying to your hair – nothing like walking into Wegman’s, taking off your hat and having your hair blow up into a static ball, right? But I’m also trying to simplify my routines and streamline as much as possible. That includes using products that help me get the looks I want! For me, that’s Pantene Intense Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner. Amazing! They instantly smooth my hair and tame frizz – perfect for dry, winter hair. I let my hair air dry until it’s just a little damp and do a quick 2-minute blow-dry – and I’m good to go! No long blowout or flat iron needed.

Hit the gym – I stepped up my workout routine this fall and started meeting with a trainer and really kicking things up. But… now it’s cold. It is SO HARD to go to the gym when it’s 10 degrees below zero outside! I’m determined not to wimp out and fall out of the great routine I’ve started. I even started keeping a gym bag in my car so I can drop in to the gym whenever I find time. It’s stocked with workout clothes, sneakers, a water bottle, earbuds, a small makeup bag and . Now, even if I have to be somewhere after my workout, there’s no excuse! Secret Outlast keeps me feeling so fresh that I can’t use the “I don’t have time to shower” excuse. I have everything I need to freshen up!

I just bought two new pairs and put one in my purse and one in my car… so ideally, I will always have them and not be squinting all winter.

    We’ve agreed that in order to really take care of myself, I need to be able to exercise on my own (health + mental break!) and not just when I’m dead tired after the little one has gone to bed! My husband has really stepped up to take the little one so I can get my solo workouts in.

  56. I will not let 2016 slip by without taking more days off for myself. At least twice a month I will purposely take time for me: no errands to run, no doctor’s appointments, just time to unwind and relax.

  65. I’ve started to run/walk first thing after breakfast – in just a couple of weeks I’m up to 4 miles every day – it makes me feel great afterwards and it’s my thinking time, listen to great music time, watch a beautiful sunrise time, and say hello to the neighborhood cats time. 🙂

    I won’t put off my personal goals. It’s very easy to put yourself last, especially when you have so many things on your plate. But it’s important that you take time for yourself to work toward your goals, do something fun, or just relax.
