I Need White Pants!

Ever since Jo-Lynne posted about how to wear black and white on Friday, I’ve had one thing on my mind:

White pants.

I’ve dipped my toe into dangerous White Pants Territory in the past, to awful results. But the awfulness was of my own doing; I just didn’t buy the RIGHT white pants. FYI: The clearance rack during white pants season? Probably not the best way to find the perfect pair. They’re on clearance for a reason, and that’s usually poor fit, ultra sheerness or just plain old bad construction. I’m determined to find a pair that works this season… and I have a couple of really good contenders.

First off, remember how much I love Gap’s Perfect Trousers? They come in white now!

Image from Gap.com, natch.

They’re not getting rave reviews, but I may need to look into these a bit more in-store. I have them in every other color that’s offered (so not kidding) – they are, by far, my #1 favorite work pants.

For a more casual look, Gap also offers my beloved Long and Lean jeans in white this season.

I know you'll be shocked to learn that this image, too, is from Gap.com! What can I say, I love Gap pants.

So basically, my two favorite cuts of pants come in white this season, and now I have to decide which one to get. What would you do? Do you wear white bottoms more in an office environment, or for casual/weekend events? Conversely, do you think I could get away with white denim in the office? We’re fairly casual, but jeans aren’t in the dress code. I just kind of feel like the jeans might be a bit… “heartier,” aka less sheer, than the pants. See-through pants is a legitimate fear of mine!

What say you? Pants, jeans, all of the above, none of the above? Tell me in the comments!

P.s., I am not at all affiliated with Gap or its companies. I just like their stuff. Carry on!

  1. i’m dying for a pair of white pants too! my MIL was wearing them the other day, obv she’s more on trend than me!

  2. Definitely the white jeans. Perfect for summer weekends!!

    • I’m kind of leaning toward them. I have a 40% off coupon for this Saturday, so… I’m guessing they will then be mine! 🙂

  3. Gabriela - Living La Vida Normal says:

I think the jeans, I agree with you about the fear of the see-through pant.

  4. I have white pants that I wear to work all the time in the summer. For me, white pants for the weekends just aren’t practical – I have a 3 year old and an (almost) 1 year old. I do wear my dressier white pants to a nice dinner, church or a shower on the weekends though (as long as my kids are not in tow). The rule with white pants is a nude thong. Always a nude thong!

    • YESSSSS, I totally agree on the nude thong. I don’t know how people don’t know that! 😉

  5. Capability says:

Just got some gorgeous white Vince pants at Queen Bee in Newton MA (huge sale) and great black dress at Tess and Carlos (also having huge sale – also Newton). How great – I am never on trend (lack of attention/luck/fit) – Great post and I love the Gap pants, too!

  6. I want some white pants too. I think the jeans will get more wear, and since they’re white and will need lots of washing, seems smarter to go with a more durable fabric. I haven’t tried the long and lean style yet, maybe I’ll get some birthday cash and buy some in August.

  7. Love, love, love, have ALways loved white pants. Every shape and fabric. My dream one day is to own a pair of bright white winter wool pants!

  8. Haha I just blogged about how I LOVE gap pants! Yes I agree I need a pair of white pants too.

  9. Undeniably believe that which you stated. Your favorite justification appeared to be on the net the easiest thing to have in mind of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed even as folks consider worries that they plainly do not understand about. You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and also outlined out the entire thing with no need side-effects , other folks could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
